Opinion: Tip to employers: stop accepting tips and start paying fair wages
February 25, 2022
Picture this. You’re at a mediocre chain restaurant and the bill comes. You thought that the total would come out to a clean 20 dollars. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case for a variety of circumstances. Not only is the tax not included in the price, but somehow you are expected to pay an additional tip “for service.” Ten to 20 percent is what is usually expected. If you don’t agree to pay this arbitrary fee, then somehow you don’t deserve to eat out!? I guess people forgot that delivery services like DoorDash expect a tip on top of a delivery fee. No thanks.
