LA’s Dodgers leave New York victorious as they beat the Mets in the NLCS and the Yankees in the World series
The end of the 2024 MLB season saw the Los Angeles Dodgers win the 2024 World series with former MVP Freddie Freeman being crowned the World Series MVP. The Dodgers beat the New York Yankees in five games, winning the first three games and finishing them off in game five.
The MVP of the series, Freddie Freeman batted 300, hitting four home runs in the first four games and knocking in 12 RBIs. Freeman became the first player in MLB history to hit a walkoff grand slam that he hit in the bottom of the tenth inning during game one to win the first game of the series. Freeman had a very tough season suffering an ankle injury and playing through a rib injury during the postseason. Freeman also had to deal with his son Max being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome in July, causing him to miss eight games during the summer.
First year Dodger player Shohei Otani was the biggest signing of free agency and became the first player to ever hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in the same season. Othani was a huge part of the Dodgers 2024 campaign winning his first World Series with the team. Two of the Dodgers’ biggest contributors during the postseason was utility player Tommy Edman who was traded to the team from the St. Louis Cardinals at the deadline he batted 328 during the postseason. Mr. October Kike Hernandez also showed up during the postseason batting 294 and having lots of clutch at bats through October. Levi Negran ‘28 said, “[My favorite moment of the series was] probably game one when Freddie Freeman Hit the grand slam and they won the game.” Stephen Escamilla ‘27 said, “Beating the Padres because I hate the Padres”.
The Dodgers celebrated their victory Nov.1 having a parade where the city of LA showed up and celebrated their MLB team.This World Series Win meant a lot to the fanbase and organization honoring the late Fernando Valenzuela who died on Oct. 22. He was a Hall Of Fame Dodgers pitcher who won the 1981 World Series with the Dodgers.
