This season is full of new exciting quests, treasures and drama
Pogues and kooks, Outer Banks season four is finally here on Netflix. Part one of “Outer Banks” season four released Thursday, Oct. 10. After almost two years since season three, this teen culture hit has returned with new adventures and antagonists. From new discoveries about JJ, to rumors of pirates cursed amulets, this season is full of new adventures.
Starting where season three left off, the pogues sold the gold they found from El Dorado that they used to remake “Poguelandia” (a perfect paradise they could do whatever they wanted). However, everything goes wrong when they are bankrupt once again. They have no choice but to take a mission from an old man that sends the whole gang off on another quest for treasure.
This season, JJ is surprisingly more of the main character. He is in every major action scene, from fighting for his life 80 feet down in the dark ocean, to jumping a 50 foot gap in a bike race to try to win the pogues money. We also discover new secrets about JJ’s past when his father tells him who his real mother and father are. JJ’s story will most likely continue to be the main focus of this season as he continues to discover who he actually is.
John B and Sarah finally get their wedding rings, Pope chooses Cleo over treasure and Kiara and JJ dive deeper into their relationship. Rafe surprisingly has a girlfriend this season he actually likes and treats half right. Rafe is dating a pogue which is very out of character for him. It will be interesting to see if these two can really make their relationship work.
Pirates is the theme of this season as the gang searches for Blackbeard’s treasure. But of course, the pogues aren’t the only people searching for the treasure. The new bad guys are a mysterious group having something to do with the legend of a blue crown.
Darby Mussehl ‘26 said, “My favorite character is probably Pope because he always knows what to do and just seems like a smart and cool person I don’t really have a least favorite I think I would be a pogue because they always have fun adventures and are so close with each other like a family and I think that’s important.”
Elizibeth Smith ‘26 said, “I thought the new episodes were pretty good, but I liked the previous seasons better. Pope is my favorite character because he’s the only one that didn’t waste the gold. I don’t like how they wasted all the gold on a house that was not worth that much. I’m not sure what’s going to happen but I think the pogues will get the treasure. I would probably be a pogue because they seem more fun to hang around and I would like treasure hunting.”
Rotten Tomatoes gave this season a 79% so far. It’s true that compared to other seasons, this season definitely is not the best, however Outer Banks is one of the hottest Netflix teen shows of today. Part two comes out on Nov. 7, so there’s still time for the show to bring back the “Outer Banks” flare that we love.
