On Thursday, November 16, Ventura High School ASB held the annual Cardboard Boat Races in the VHS pool at lunch.
It is a competition in which students get in teams of three to five and create small boats only using cardboard and duct tape.
The students participating have third through fifth period to create their boats, and start the races at lunch, where students can watch.
One student from each team attempts to travel across the pool without the boat sinking, and the winners of each of the three heats compete in the final championship heat to determine the winner.
After the race, contestants are free to use the diving board until lunch ends.
