Welcoming Lindsay Guzik, our new assistant principal
Last year, VHS said goodbye to two assistant principals, Christina Dorso and Elena Garcia-Yoshitomi. Going into the 2025-26 school year, they welcomed the new assistant principal Lindsay Guzik formerly from Cabrillo Middle School.

Staff member and school services assistant Erin Shean said, “I love Miss Guzik, she’s great. She’s so smart and knows the system really well. She’s been an administrator for a long time. She brings a lot of energy. She knows all these Cabrillo kiddos that are problems, so she’s awesome.”
Guzik said, “I’m really looking forward to learning more about college career readiness, A to G units, NCAA requirements, and just gaining that technical knowledge so I can really help direct students to the path that they need to get to, and offer the right opportunities for them to succeed. I’m also looking forward to continuing the work to beautify the campus, because I think we have really good bones, but I think we could do some small things to make it look more beautiful.”
Regarding former assistant principals, Dorso’s position was removed and Garcia-Yoshitomi was transferred to Cabrillo, swapping with Guzik. “Ms. Dorso was awesome. I didn’t really know the other [assistant principal] that well, though, but Dorso was great,” said Blake MacLellan ‘27.
Some students had concerns regarding what changes Guzik may make. “I hope Mrs. Guzik doesn’t treat us like middle schoolers. I also hope she changes how the bathrooms close 10 minutes before class ends because I really need to use the bathroom,” said MacLellan.
Addressing student concerns Guzik said, “I’m gonna need to learn the school and the culture more before I offer an opinion on [making changes]. I don’t want to be naive and change something that either doesn’t need to be fixed, or put my priorities in an area that isn’t the best use of my time. I think continuing the work on culture. Culture builds everything. If kids want to be here, their grades are going to go up. It’s a direct correlation. So one thing that we’re doing tomorrow is I’m taking a few of the leadership team teachers, and we’re all meeting with we’re doing an all day training to set goals and to coordinate and make everything under one umbrella. So right now, you have Renaissance, you have ASB, you have link crew, you have all these different things that are building culture. But now I want to band them together and make it a little bit more linear.”
