Long lines begin to start a problem at Ventura High School

Lunch time is meant to be a time to unwind and relax and part of that is getting yourself a nice meal to eat, but at VHS this has been no easy task as of lately, due to the frustratingly long lines to get food. Many students are unhappy with the long, crowded and irritating waits to get a simple meal. Some of those students have decided to share their thoughts and personal experiences about the lunch lines.
Ethan Henson ‘29 said, “I have waited in the lunch lines multiple times this year so far and my experience has not been very good. For starters, it is very crowded and with so many people cutting in through the sides by the door it makes the pushing and bumping much worse. I think there are a couple of things that if changed could greatly benefit the lunch lines including, extending the shade. Unless you’re in the cafeteria or under the small overhang right outside it can get really hot and uncomfortable. Also ropes or some sort of barricade to stop people from cutting would definitely speed up the lines for everyone.”
Anders Curtis ‘28 said, “When waiting in the lunch lines unless I’m with friends I’m often very bored and find myself wondering if I don’t want to get lunch at all because of how long the line is unfortunately the feeling to leave often succeeds and I leave. But occasionally when I do stay the food ends up being very good so no complaints there. I’m not sure what a good solution for the lines would be but I think one improvement could be that we stagger lunchtime, but that would also create more problems than we had to begin with.”
If that’s how some students feel about the lunch line then it might be an indicator that some sort of change is needed to make the experience more comfortable, enjoyable and fair for every student here at VHS who wants to enjoy a nice meal from the cafeteria after class.
