Football player Tristan Phillips creates his own line of merchandise centered around his athletics
Tristan Phillips ‘26, a 4-star linebacker at VHS launched his own name brand merchandise on the website ‘My Player’ in August. ‘My Player’ allows athletes like Phillips to create their own brand merchandise and spread the athletic influence by selling designer clothing involving the athlete’s selected pictures turned into printed designs. It is also another way upcoming athletes can make cash on the side. Phillips decided to take advantage of this resource and opportunity, just as other athletes have in the past.

The clothing has a selection of hoodies, vintage tees, graphic tees, long-sleeve t-shirts and crewnecks. Phillips has personal designs of artwork sewn into his clothing, ranging from signature shirts with his nickname, Thanos, and hoodies and shirts showing him standing over the quarterback he sacked in a previous game. Colors available are black, gray and white for all clothing. Shirts and hoodies come in sizes from small up to 5XL. Phillips said, “I am happy with how the clothing came out. The designers did a great job.”
Blake MacLellan ‘27 said, “I think the crewnecks are pretty cool but I think we should actually make John Shneidle ‘27 merch too, you know he got defensive player of the game this week so we could definitely do something with that. I’ll probably buy the ‘Tristan Phillips Vintage Tee’, ‘cause it’s like, it’s pretty sick.”
The price of clothing varies from $34.99 for t-shirts, up to $64.99 for hoodies. According to the ‘My Player’ website, “the clothing is described to be comfortable to wear because it is made with 100% pre-shrunk cotton, which offers a fit and cozy feel, making it perfect for athletic activities and relaxing, while staying stylish”. ‘My Player’ also guarantees long term durability from wear and tear for their athlete’s clothing.
Phillips said, “I thought with the platform I have built it would be good to give people the opportunity to represent me if they support me or to the younger generation that looks up to me.” Phillips said that by buying his merch, people of all ages can show him support.
