Bad Bunny is not performing in the U.S. for his 2025-26 world tour because fear of ICE raids

During the summer, Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, mainly known as “Bad Bunny,” announced on May 5 that he will be going on a world tour for his new album ‘Debí Tirar Mas Fotos’ starting Nov. 21. This left his fans with excitement and anticipation for the new world tour, but other fans realized that there was no sign on the tour date list that he would be performing in the US. A big handful of Bad Bunny’s fans that live in the US did not agree with this decision and were disappointed that he wouldn’t be coming to a city near them during the new world tour. However, Bad Bunny made the decision to not go to the US because of how many ICE raids there are across the country. Performing in the US created concern and fear for Bad Bunny and his team because of many of the Latin-American fans he currently has that would show up to the show.
In an interview with i-D magazine, Ocasio said, “But there was the issue that…ICE could be outside [my concert venue]. It’s something that [me and my team] were talking about and very concerned about…I’ve performed there many times…There are many reasons why I won’t show up to the US but none of them are out of hate.”
Jacky Dominguez ‘28 said, “Even though I’m not that big of a fan of Bad Bunny, I have been listening to him since 2020 and it was a good idea for him to not come to the U.S because a lot of his fans are not from here…He did a great job at making the right decision to not perform here in the US because as I said, his fans aren’t from here and ICE could’ve raided the stadiums [and] venues he would be performing at.”

Bad Bunny’s new album was big hit across all music streaming platforms staying number one on the Spotify global chart for 332 days and deserves a world tour even though not coming to the US to perform was a disappointing decision, it will be beneficial in the end because of the consideration Bad Bunny had for his fans. Anavaeh Casarez 28’ said, “Bad Bunny not coming here to the US to perform was a really smart decision because a part of his fan base could be immigrants and they will respect him way more for that.”
I think this new world tour for Bad Bunny will definitely be a huge success, but this shows that he shows a lot of consideration for his fans that could be taken because of ICE, making him put his loving and dedicated fans before himself.
