The Seahawks franchise hasn’t seen a performance like this in 11 years
In the 2025 NFL regular season, the Seattle Seahawks have had an incredible season. Although the season started out rough with a 13-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, they quickly turned it around and began to win every game. They lost their second game in week five to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sam Darnold, the quarterback, threw for his season high of 341 yards. Unfortunately, the Buccaneers also had an amazing game and they won in the fourth quarter with a field goal. The final score was 38-35. After this, the Seahawks only lost one more game to the Los Angeles Rams and finished the year with a record of 14 wins and three losses. Sam Darnold finished off the regular season with 4,048 yards thrown. He averaged 8.5 yards per throw which is a career high. He has performed great with Jaxon Smith-Njigba as his number one receiver.
Smith-Njigba has had an amazing season as the Seahawks number one receiver and he finished the season with a career high of 1,793 yards. He leads the NFL in receiving yards which has brought him to become a serious discussion point for the offensive player of the year award. He also had a career high of 10 touchdowns and he averaged 15.1 yards per reception. He had a season high of 167 receiving yards against the Tennessee Titans on week 12 of the NFL regular season. He finished this game with two touchdowns and eight total receptions. With these stats Smith-Njigba should definitely win the offensive player of the year award. Daniel Skall ‘26 said, “The Seahawks have the best offense in the league, they have an MVP receiver.”
The Seahawk’s running backs Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet have been a crucial part of the Seahawk’s success on the offensive side. Walker III has had 1,027 rushing yards and Charbonnet has had 730 rushing yards. Walker III did this in 221 carries averaging 4.6 yards per rush and Charbonnet had 184 carries averaging 4.0 yards per rush. They have been very important in maintaining the threat of a run as much as a pass. This has led to the incredible success of the Seahawks this season.
A very important part of the Seahawks team this year has been the defensive side of the team. Very outstanding players on the defensive side have been Ernest Jones IV, Drake Thomas, Devon Witherspoon and the rookie Nick Emmanwori. Jones IV and Thomas are both linebackers with an outstanding 126 and 92 total tackles respectively. Witherspoon is a corner back who previously had a great defensive season in 2024 but has continued to be a crucial part of the Seahawks defense.
Even throughout all of the success that the Seahawks have had during this season, many people still don’t believe in them. Isaac Estrada ‘27 said, “The Seahawks aren’t that good. They’re all right I guess.”
Even though the Seahawks are the number one seed in the NFC and have the best record in the entire NFL, people are still adamant that they are not as good as their record shows. This is just due to the performances that the Seahawks have had in the past seasons. Their amazing performance this season is not enough to make up for the mediocrity in previous seasons for some people. The Seahawks are definitely having an amazing year and they have a strong chance to make and win the Superbowl.
