Young star shows sparks for greatness

A perfect hat trick in soccer is referred to when a player scores three goals, where they scored one goal with each of their feet and the other with their head. On Jan. 4, 21-year-old Gonzalo Garcia, a forward for Real Madrid, scored a perfect hat trick against Real Betis to help his team get the win for a score of 5-1. Garcia scored a header in minute 20 of the game, a right footed volley in minute 50 and in minute 80 scored a left footed backheeled goal. Garcia had stepped up to the occasion, as Real Madrid’s main forward, Kylian Mbappe was out due to a knee sprain, so he got a front row seat to watch his replacement for the game score three goals. A perfect hat trick is an achievement very few ever accomplish in their careers, so it was really amazing for a young star such as himself to do that.
Justin Rea ‘28 said, “I think it was really cool that he scored a hat trick for his league debut and the way he made all of those goals was really impressive and shocking because I didn’t expect him to do that. And I think that gave him a boost of confidence.”
Noah Fong ‘28 said, “Gonzalo Garcia is definitely an extraordinary talent that shocked the soccer world with that hat trick. To score a perfect hat trick at 21 is a sure indicator that the player is full of promise. That amazing game should hopefully lead to him getting more playing time in the future games to come, as he is a young player full of promise that needs to be given chances to show what he can do on the field and develop into the best possible player he can become because it’s obvious that real Madrid has one of the best youngsters on the planet at the moment, who could possibly become a key piece in any future success the club may have.”

Whether or not Gonzalo Garcia begins getting more playing time in the future will depend on his ability to deliver on the pitch and if the team’s coach sees his potential and gives the young player a chance to shine. There is no doubt that Gonzalo Garcia has the ability to continue up with this form, although there is no guarantee to a successful career it will ultimately be up to his hunger to reach his dreams.
