Which music albums were hits this year?

Music is something that brings us together. At VHS this is not any different. All students have a different music taste. But what are students’ top five artists? And what apps do students use for said music? Popular apps are Spotify, Youtube music, Pandora and Apple Music, but not all are used by everyone. Some may not even be on this list or an app you have not heard of.
Greg Simpson ‘28 said, “I’d say Don Toliver or Gorillaz [are my favorite artists]. I use Spotify or Youtube Music.”
Don Toliver is a rap artist with 39.4 million monthly listeners. Gorillaz’s first album was ‘Gorillaz’ in 2001. They have 33.8 million listeners
Benjamin Nichols ‘29 said, “[My favorite artist is] Tame Impala.” Nichols uses Spotify for music. Tame Impala, also known as Kevin Parker, is an artist with 29 million monthly listeners and their first album was ‘Innerspeaker’ released in 2010.
At VHS there seems to be no specific artist, but it seems that Spotify is popular according to these interviews. The top albums of the year are ‘DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS’ by Bad Bunny, ‘Golliwog’ by Billy Woods, ‘Lonely with Power’ by Deafheaven, ‘Revengeseekerz’ by Jane Remover and ‘Sable, Fable’ by Bon Iver. The types of genres are so unique yet they bring people together
Karis Yi ‘29 said, “I’d just say TWICE [is my favorite artist] I guess I use Spotify.”

Twice is a KPOP girl band with 27 Million listeners and 30 albums making their first one ‘The story begins in 2015.
Carter Koontz ‘29 said, “I like Alex Schor and I use Spotify.” Alex Schor has 246 thousand listeners monthly with his first album being three figure man. All of these artists are different but the people who listen to them all have one thing in common: they enjoy music. Music is important. It has been around for hundreds of years and it expresses culture, religion, feelings and so much more. It helps people communicate in their own way and shows their creativity. Music is amazing and something that should be spoken about more and extremely appreciated.
